Recommendation

Results and recommendations  include: education, insight to your unique body chemistry and a road map to health.

Your gut plays a role in nearly every aspect of your health—from digestion and nutrient absorption to immune function, inflammation, metabolism, and even brain health.

At the center of gut health is the microbiome, an ecosystem of trillions of microorganisms that work together to support digestion, protect the intestinal barrier, regulate immune activity, and produce compounds your body relies on. When this ecosystem becomes imbalanced, its effects can extend well beyond digestive symptoms.

Some people know their gut is struggling because they experience bloating, constipation, reflux, or other digestive concerns. Others have few digestive symptoms at all. Testing provides a deeper look at what is happening beneath the surface—helping identify microbial imbalances, pathogens, digestive dysfunction, and intestinal inflammation that may be influencing your overall health. Your gut can tell us a lot. The GI-MAP helps us listen.

Test. Don't Guess!

The GI-MAP® by Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory is an advanced stool analysis that uses quantitative PCR technology to evaluate the gastrointestinal microbiome. Rather than looking at gut bacteria alone, the GI-MAP provides a broader view of the intestinal ecosystem—including pathogens, H. pylori, beneficial and keystone bacteria, opportunistic overgrowth, yeast, parasites, digestive function, intestinal immune activity and inflammation.

One of the strengths of the GI-MAP is its ability to measure the amount of microbial DNA present, helping us identify not only what organisms are detected, but whether certain microbes may be present at levels that warrant closer attention. These findings are interpreted alongside your symptoms, health history and other laboratory data to identify patterns of dysbiosis and areas where digestive and intestinal health may need support.

This is at home one-time stool collection. The specimen can be collected from the convenience of home and shipped to the laboratory for analysis. This is a perfect option for children (ages 3 and up).

Highlights risks and provides guidance for:

Pathogens

  • Bacterial pathogens including pathogenic E. coli, C. difficile, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Vibrio and Yersinia

  • Parasitic pathogens including Giardia, Cryptosporidium and Entamoeba histolytica

  • Viral GI pathogens including adenovirus and norovirus

H. pylori

  • Quantitative Helicobacter pylori

  • Eight H. pylori virulence factors

  • Antibiotic-resistance genes associated with H. pylori when applicable

The Core Microbiome

  • Keystone and commensal bacteria

Dysbiosis & Microbial Overgrowth

  • Opportunistic and overgrowth bacteria

Yeast, Viruses & Parasites

  • Candida and other fungal/yeast organisms

  • CMV and EBV

  • Protozoa including Blastocystis, Dientamoeba and others

  • Five intestinal worm targets

Markers of functional digestive status:

  • Steatocrit — fat digestion/absorption

  • Pancreatic Elastase-1 — pancreatic digestive enzyme output

  • β-Glucuronidase — microbial enzyme activity relevant to intestinal detoxification and hormone recirculation

  • Occult Blood-FIT — detects microscopic blood in the stool

  • Secretory IgA — intestinal mucosal immune activity

  • Anti-gliadin IgA — localized immune response associated with gluten exposure

  • Eosinophil Activation Protein (EDN/EPX) — eosinophilic immune activity

  • Calprotectin — intestinal inflammatory activity

  • Zonulin - intestinal permeability/tight junction signaling

  • 2-3 Days Prior Stop Taking: All digestive support supplements prior to stool collection. (Betaine HCl, enzymes, gut healing formulas and general probiotics.
