Recommendation
Results and recommendations include: education, insight to your unique body chemistry and a road map to health.
The Hair, Tissue and Mineral Analysis (HTMA) has become one of my favorite functional tests for all my clients. It offers insight to how the body is digesting and metabolizing foods and nutrients. Additionally, we gain insight into digestive health, thyroid function, adrenal health, inflammation, blood sugar, heavy metal toxicity, mineral imbalances, immune function, and more. Not only is HTMA affordable, and incredibly valuable but it’s also accurate.
What is a HTMA?
Hair trace mineral analysis (HTMA) is a screening test that uses soft tissue mineral biopsies (from hair) to provide a reading of the mineral and heavy metal deposition in the hair.
Hair is body tissue in which minerals get deposited in very specific patterns. This ultimately, when properly interpreted from a skilled practitioner, provides us with a blueprint for your unique body’s biochemistry. Think of the HTMA like a finger print - it shows one's mineral and nutritional pattern over the last three months
Importance of Minerals
Minerals are the 'spark plugs' in the chemistry of life. They work synergistically with vitamins and other co-factors that allow all biochemical reactions to take place. They need to be consumed from our diet and sadly due to over farming - our soil often lacks in minerals, thus our food is low in minerals. At root of many of our imbalances - lies low mineral consumption or absorption.
Common Symptoms of Mineral Depletion can include:
-
Low energy/fatigue,
-
Headaches/migraine
-
Water retention/puffiness
-
Brain fog/concentration issues
-
Sluggish thyroid
-
Digestive issues/low stomach acid
-
Increased urination,
-
Poor stress resistance
-
Poor sleep quality
-
Mood imbalances
-
Hormonal imbalances
-
Always fighting a cold and more.
HTMA for Children
Many kids these days are deficient in key minerals, have minerals that are out of balance with each other, and/or have heavy metals stored in their tissues at toxic levels. Unfortunately, when minerals are not present, heavy metals take their place, making it harder for the body to remove the metals. The goal of HTMA for kids is to restore the balance of key minerals and support the body in removing heavy metals.
Symptoms in children: mood dysregulation/melt downs, sleep challenges, attention issues, stomach aches, food cravings, skin issues, fatigue and more.
HTMA for Female Hormone Challenges:
Hormone testing can tell us if a specific hormone is high or low and what pathway is most dominate (which is important). But the cool thing about a HTMA test is it can tell us why that hormone may be dysregulated. Hormones are chemical messengers, which rely on certain minerals to function properly. For example, zinc is needed to support progesterone/insulin/testosterone and copper is needed to help balance estrogen and energy. Copper supports overall energy production. Magnesium, sodium & potassium are needed for healthy adrenal function.
Symptoms in females: fatigue, irregular cycles, anovulation, PCOS, endometriosis, weight gain, severe PMS, acne and other skin issues and more.
HTMA for Fatigue
When it comes to solving your energy problems, no single test can offer as many clues as a HTMA. We can see how your adrenal and thyroid are functioning intracellularly. We gain insight into your macronutrients, minerals, digestion and nutrient assimilation. Most importantly, if coupled with bloodwork we can gain incredible insight into your copper and iron status - which holds the key in your energy. To benefit, you will want to run a blood panel along wth the HTMA. Simple, click this link to place you blood order. Please email us after you place your HTMA order if you are ordering the additional blood. Highly recommended!
Symptoms of dysregulation: extreme unrelenting fatigue, inflammation, brain fog, migraines, achy joints, loss of motivation and more.

Notes of hair collection: You need to stop the use of zinc/dandruff shampoos like Selsun Blue for 2 weeks, and it’s best to wait 6 to 8 weeks from your last hair coloring/bleaching to take your hair sample for the test kit. If you have well water or a water softener, you must wash your hair 2-3 times with distilled water prior to taking sample. It is best to use a purifying shampoo, especially if you have well water.
