Implications of Toxicant Exposure

Did your quiz reveal toxic exposure could be at the root of your health challenges? Well, if so, please do not be discouraged. We have worked with many clients, who after testing and making lifestyle adjustments have greatly improved their health.

There are approximately 80,000 chemicals registered for use in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that hundreds of these chemicals are present in our bodies.  The simple truth is, we are surrounded by toxins. In fact, we are exposed to more environmental toxins in one day than our grandparents were in an entire lifetime.

We are talking about toxicants that come in the way of the personal care products we use, like shampoos, laundry detergents, skin care. As well as, those that come from the material we use to cook and store our foods, pesticides, mold and EMF exposure. Additionally, these toxicants reside on our furniture, and our building materials. It seems like toxicants are everywhere.

These exposures are not acute. Meaning we ingest or get exposed to a high dose at one time, rather its a chronic long-term exposure that builds up and can create havoc in our system.

For over 30 years, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been looking for and finding chemicals in the US population and tracking them in their long-running biomonitoring studies. They have measured over 400 different chemicals inside us.

In 2005, the Environmental Working Group took this biomonitoring a step further by testing the umbilical cord blood of 10 newborn babies and shockingly, but not surprisingly, finding a total of 287 chemicals including carcinogens, neurotoxins, developmental toxins and others. That is a frightening statistic!

Many researchers are now beginning to link these low-dose toxic exposures to the following health challenges:

  • Weight gain (also known as Obesogens)

  • Resistant weight loss

  • Insulin resistance

  • Diabetes

  • Allergies

  • Asthma

  • Autism

  • Learning disabilities

  • ADHD

  • Infertility

  • Thyroid issues

  • Autoimmune conditions

Some Biomedical Functional Tests that are assess our internal toxicants are::

Hair Minerals & Metals - Many have a hard time detoxing heavy metals from their environment. Hair can give us a reliable representation of heavy metal burden and minerals. The hair shows a three-month window of what has been going on in the body.

Environmental Toxin Panel - We live in a toxic world! Toxins from plastic bottles, food containers, air pollution, contaminated water, non-organic produce, and other unhealthy contaminants can build up in the body and exacerbate hormone, weight and mood issues. Via a simple urine test we can measure the buildup of these toxins in the body and make lifestyle changes to help the body naturally detox or use diet/supplements to help bind and excrete toxins.

Organic Acid Test (OAT)  or a Myco-TOX- The Organic Acids Test (OAT) is considered a “metabolic snapshot” of what is going on in the body. It provides information on important neurotransmitters, nutritional markers, glutathione status, oxalate metabolism, evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria, and much more. The test includes 74 urinary metabolite markers that can be very useful for discovering underlying causes of chronic illness.

Glyphosate Test - Recent studies have discovered glyphosate exposure to be a cause of many chronic health problems. It can enter the body by direct absorption through the skin, by eating foods treated with glyphosate, or by drinking water contaminated with glyphosate.
